Google Search (also known simply as Google), is a search engine provided by Google. Handling over 3.5 billion searches per day, it has a 92% share of the global search engine market. It is also the most-visited website in the world.

Why It Rules The Internet

  1. It has a unique and creative concept. It can allow you to look up any site you wish to visit, and look up images.
  2. Load of images can be researched and saved as to which one you want, and most of them are appealing to look at.
  3. Was also a good candidate for a research project when the founders were at first PhD students at Stanford University of Stanford, California.
  4. The Google Doodle trope allows the company to honor the figures of real life, and the history they honor. The rhyme of the name is also clever.
  5. A satisfying view of the design of the site, even in it’s early years.
  6. While it still tracks what its users search on its search engine, it allows for better search results than the search engines that don't track their users.
  7. Programmed various software for your own personal needs, which is your house, car and several others.
  8. A lot of fun games to play that are available within the engine, like the Snake game, Google Pac-Man, Google feud Be Internet Awesome, several holiday based games such as Magic Cat Academy, and lots more that will allow you to have a fun experience.
  9. It allows you to write reviews on a variety of media, like Films, TV shows, and so on.
  10. Due to just simply being a viewing site rather than a social media site, almost no one can manage to get you harassed.
  11. It has a really large amount of pages, animals, video games, other sites, and sales you can access.
  12. Google's foundation helped Jewish people and immigrants gain more recognition.
  13. It is proof that even some of the worst companies can have good sites.

Bad Qualities

  1. It received criticism and controversy for prominent media coverage, aggressive tax avoidance, the energy consumption of its servers and xenophobic messages.
    • That last one is very hypoctirical, considering the fact that Sergey Brin was an immigrant from the USSR (today Russia).
  2. Google's search engine is very flawed nowadays.
    • Certain Google Images results, such as fan artwork, contain a disturbing amount of NSFW elements rampant throughout, such as fetish art, offensive memes, dark humor, even some uncensored sex gifs managed to mixing up with non-NSFW content (such as "loona helluva boss" when searching it on Google) and more. What makes this more worse is that in spite of the SafeSearch, some suggestive elements can be found.
    • Unnecessary censorship; The search engine prevents AutoFill from using even words that are remotely offensive such as "hippie" and even "butt."
    • The search engine can be a bit unintelligent when it comes to specific search results. An example is when a user is trying to find a specific link or site, only to be led into random links in the search results.
  3. The "send feedback" system is useless in Google Images. If you report an image you deem inappropriate or disturbing, nothing happens.
  4. Since June 2021, a policy has been implemented that any Google account that has been inactive for two years will have all their data deleted, from Photos, Gmail and other products. This also forces some users to remain logged in to avoid losing data, especially those with multiple accounts.
    • However if your Google Account was disabled or you forgot the password to it before June 2021, and it was in effect. You would lose everything.
  5. Two words: Privacy issues. Full stop.

Trivia

  • In the Johnny Test episode, "Johnny Test in Black & White", Johnny is seen typing on a parody of this search engine called Gaggle.
  • This site was parodied in several We Bare Bears episodes as Googs.
  • This website is currently the most visited website worldwide, since it's launch on September 4, 1998.
  • Several other Google-owned websites also are on the list of most popular websites, including YouTube and Blogger.
  • On September 13, 2007, Google uploaded a Doodle honouring Roald Dahl on the anniversary of his birthday. The doodle sparked a controversy as it was uploaded the same day as the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, and recieved criticism as Roald Dahl was accused of anti-Semitism. The doodle was removed by 2:00 p.m. that day, and there remains no evidence of its existence in Google's official Doodle archive to this date. Some other doodles were criticized as well, such as the doodle which honoured Yuri Kochiyama, an Asian American activist and member of the Maoist-based black nationalist group Revolutionary Action Movement, with a Doodle on its main U.S. homepage. This choice was heavily criticized due to some of Kochiyama's controversial opinions, such as an admiration for Osama bin Laden and Mao Zedong.
  • By 2019, the " Doodlers " team had created over 4,000 doodles for Google's homepages around the world.
